New milestone: Seccubus 2.0.beta1

PostDateIconSunday, 08 January 2012 21:32 | PostAuthorIconWritten by Frank Breedijk | PDF Print E-mail

Seccubus has reached Beta phase

As of today, the 8th of January 2012, we released Seccubus 2.0.beta1, the first beta version of Seccubus.

With this version Seccubus v1 is now officially no longer under active development. This means that no new features will be added and bug may, or may not, be fixed, depending on the urgency of the bug and the effort involved in fixing it.

The key differences between verison 1 and version 2 are:

  • Findings are stored in a relational database in stead of on the filesystem.
  • Seccubus uses XML RPC to communicatie with Nessus, this also means that it can communicate with both the professional feed and home feed version.
  • There is no need for the webserver to read files from the Seccubus user anymore.
  • Scans are organized into workspaces, allowing scans of the same kind, or same target to be group into a workspace and viewed together.

Scan set up documentation

PostDateIconFriday, 22 April 2011 14:40 | PostAuthorIconWritten by Frank Breedijk | PDF Print E-mail

The biggest feedback I got so far on Seccubus v2 is that that a much needed piece of documentation on how to set up scans was missing.

I have pluged that hole. New documentation if up on our Seccubus v2 documentation page and will be present in the docs directory in the tarbal of new versions.

Seccubus

It is with great pleasure that Steven Launius and myself would like to announce the release of the first version of Seccubus v2, Seccubus-2.0.alpha1

While all versions of Seccubus are in a sense our baby, this one emphasized that by being 9 months (or so) in the making. Seccubus 2 has been rewritten from the ground up to not just been an evolved product, but a properly designed product that will be a solid basis for new features and future improvements.

As the name suggests this is an Alpha release with the associated quality. If you are running Seccubus V1 in a production environment we strongly suggest to not move to Seccubus V2 unless you have a specific reason to do so.

Seccubus-2.0.alpha1 can be downloaded from SourceForge now.

Here are the release notes:

---8X------------------------------------------------------------

2011-03-14 - Seccubus v2.0.alpha1

Welcome to the first release of Seccubus 2.0 as the name suggests this is an
Alpha release with the associated quality. If you are running Seccubus V1 in a
production environment we strongly suggest to not move to Seccubus V2 unless
you have a specific reason to do so.

Seccubus v1.5.5

PostDateIconFriday, 18 February 2011 23:23 | PostAuthorIconWritten by Frank Breedijk | PDF Print E-mail

Released Seccubus v1.5.5 to correct installer error

Hello I just released Seccubus v1.5.5 which corrects an error in the installer reported byStephen Stormont in Ticket #13.

Currently this release is only available as tarball, the rpm is expected shortly.

18-2-2011 Seccubus 1.5.5 - Fixed installer error

If the installer changed files by means of the sed command a new file was
created which takes the permissions from the system umask. This caused some
files not to have the correct permissions as reported by Stephen Stormont in
ticket #13 (https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/seccubus/ticket/13)
